I’ve been working on the promotion of a new campaign called “GivingTuesday” that will help nonprofits kick off their end of year fundraising efforts. Here’s the skinny:
November 28th:
Thanksgiving Day. You eat turkey, drink some wine, watch a parade and eat some pie.
November 29th:
Black Friday. Millions of crazed shoppers trample each other for the chance at below-retail holiday deals.
December 2nd:
Cyber Monday. People shirking their work responsibilities and cyber shopping on Toys R Us and Amazon.com.
December 3rd:
GivingTuesday! Wow! After all the retail zoo shenanigans, we finally have a day with MEANING!
So, what is GivingTuesday and who is behind it?
GivingTuesday is a global day of philanthropy started by the UNFoundation and the 92ndY in New York City. The advisory board reads like a “who’s who” of digital corporate social responsibility.
What is so cool about it?
What’s great about tagging on to a cause-agnostic campaign is that you get free campaign graphics, access to pre-written copy you can use for emails and your site AND (my favorite part) you can join a global conversation and hop on a hashtag bandwagon. What do you have to lose? Not a darn thing. Get started!
